The heart is capable of remembering. It has the ability to record memory, and also recall it. So, if you want to, you can literally write Jesus Christ in your heart, upon every cell and fiber of your being... In your inward parts. As you do what you can to become more like Christ, to do as He would, to love as He would love, to serve as He would serve, to treat others as He would treat them, your heart will record your feelings, your emotions, and the experiences that you have. The Spirit will bring those things back to your remembrance through your heart. You can literally love someone with all your heart. And as you come to love every person with all your heart, you come to love Christ with more of your heart. You come to engrave His name deeper into your soul!
As you come to do as He would do, as you start to write His name in your heart, you come to know Him. It will not be easy by any means. To engrave is to put pressure on and chip out unwanted parts so you can not only have, but also see the desired and finished product. As we act on our desire to write His name in our hearts, the Spirit does the engraving. We feel the pressure in different situations and at different times. At times we also feel Him chipping away and molding us into our best selves. But if we keep going and deepen our desire to emulate Christ, the desired product will come. What we do with His name will show through our countenances. Our countenances will show how deeply His name is engraven upon our souls!
